Ryan Ford takes Kampen

Ryan Ford put together 2 solid rounds this weekend at Purdue's Kampen golf course to take home the Boys 16-19 and overall Boys 14-19 title by 1 stroke. His two rounds featured 6 birdies and 5 bogies, a winning combination of steady play and avoidance of any big numbers.

His win wasn't without drama, though, as Braden Hoisington in the same group posted a 33 on the front nine Sunday, and after faltering on the back nine, birdied the 17th hole to regain the lead from Ford. A two shot swing on the final hole would place Ford in the winner's place while he waited for the remaining groups to come in.

The next group in brought Weston Walker with a Sunday 71 and just 1 back of Ford. Another two groups and in came Connor McNeely with the round of the tournament, a Sunday 68 with birdies on his last two holes to also finish 1 back of Ford.

It had been almost a year since Drew Miller had been in the winner's circle on the GolfWeek Jr Tour and his opening round of 72 put him on pace to make an easy return. He did have challengers, though, on Sunday with Titus Boswell posting a 74 that featured an eagle on the 1st hole, and Aidan Gutierrez posting a Sunday round with 14 pars.

Drew was able to hold them off, though, by opening with an even par round of 36 on the front nine and cruise in to a Sunday finish of 77 for a 149 total for the weekend.

The Boys 13 & Under division looked to be a lock for Finley Bartlett after opening round one with a 2 under par 70. His Sunday round was going well with 5 birdies and 2 bogey's until a double bogey on 18 gave Brayden Miller an opening. Brayden had been making a charge during Sunday with 4 birdies and an eagle that put him 3 under going into the last hole, but a par was not enough to overtake Finley.

This is Finley's 3rd win in 3 starts on the GolfWeek Jr Tour this season and puts him in the lead in the Player of the Year race.

Sydney Deal won the overall girls title this weekend with two solid rounds of 82-83, she also is our leader in the Player of the Year race in the Girls 14 & under division.

Paige Reece's 79 on Sunday was the low score of the tournament for the girls and gave her the victory with rounds of 90-79 in the Girls 15-19 division over Alana Miller with 85-87.
