Burton earns overall boys title at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio -- Zach Burton earned his second GJT victory, earning the boys overall title and Boys 14-15 division at Dayton Country Club.

His rounds of 73-72—145 were good enough to beat Andrew Flynn by one shot.

In the Boys 14-15 division, Burton beat Peter Sheakley by seven.

Burton posted three birdies on the closing nine to keep the field at bay and surge ahead of Flynn.

Sheakley made a strong push early in the final round, playing his first eight holes in 2-under-par. Over the last 10 holes Sheakley posted five bogeys and a double bogey in claiming sole possession of second place at 77-75—152.

Cole Kendall took third place at 78-75—153 while Leo Walling (80-78—158) and Hayden Frederick (82-80—162) rounded out the top five.

Flynn earns Boys 16-19 win

Andrew Flynn

Andrew Flynn fired rounds of 73-73—146 in his GJT debut to earn a 1-shot victory in the Boys 16-19 division at Dayton Country Club.

Flynn closed strong to earn the win, playing the final six holes in bogey-free 2-under-par.

Shane Murphy, who shared the first-round lead with two other players, finished at 72-75—147 to finish alone in second place. He seemed poised to enter the winner’s circle before a closing nine of four bogeys and a double bogey.

Ryan Lang shot 74-74—148 to finish in a tie for third with Mitchell Soma, who posted rounds of 75-73—148.

Rounding out the top five was the trio of Alex Gornia (77-72—149), Jared DeVille (78-71—149) and Zach Brinks (75-74—149).

Economon rolls in Girls 15-19

Anna Economon

Anna Economon opened a 7-shot lead in the first round and cruised to victory by the same margin in the Girls 15-19 division at Dayton Country Club.

Economon shot 72-83—156 to beat Sarah O’Connor by seven strokes. She inflicted most of her damage on the back-nine of the opening round by posting birdies at 10, 11, 13 and 16 while incurring no bogeys.

O’Connor shot 81-82—163 to finish alone in second place while Katie Fuller claimed third place with rounds of 80-88—168.

Rounding out the top five were Jenna Hayes (90-85—175) and Jenna Lynn (89-86—175).

Phillips dominates Boys 13-and-Under

Cameron Phillips

Cameron Phillips earned his second straight win, cruising to a 23-shot victory in the Boys 13-and-under division at Dayton Country Club.

Phillips fired rounds of 78-77—155 and never saw his lead threatened.

Michael Stagnaro finished second with rounds of 88-90—178.
