Wiseman best on rainy weekend
YORKTOWN, Ind. – Joey Wiseman fired a 4-under-par 68 to win the Boys 16-19 division rain-shortened event at The Player’s Club at Woodland Trails.
Wiseman, who picked up his second GJT victory, posted two early birdies then started his inward nine with three straight birdies in taking command. In all, Wiseman notched six birdies for the round against two bogeys.
The victory bested the field by five shots as a trio of players came in tied for second place at 1-over-par 73: Caleb Bopp, Dylan Bonfield and Kody Reynolds.
A large group tied for fifth place at 74: Tyler Nickol, Jack Crawford, Jacob Deakyne, Luke DeHaven and Alex Heck.
Bellar earns third GJT victory in Boys 14-15
Kash Bellar was the only player to match par in earning a 2-shot victory in the Boys 14-15 division rain-shortened event at Woodland Trails.
Bellar rebounded from bogeys at 1 and 5 with consecutive birdies at 9 and 10, later getting to 1-under with a birdie at 15.
The victory was Bellar’s first of the season after bagging two wins in the 2017-18 season.
Drew Todd shot 74 to finish alone in second place while Conner Heffner rounded out the top 3 with a 75.
Blackard rolls in Boys 13-and-Under
Peyton Blackard notched seven birdies in his round as he fired a 2-under-par 70 in winning the Boys 13-and-under rain shortened event at Woodland Trails by five strokes.
Blackard started hot with birdies on the first two holes the responded to two bogeys with four birdies over a 6-hole stretch at one point.
Cameron Phillips provided the best challenge, playing his opening nine in 1-under-par, but two double bogeys on the inward nine left him at 3-over-par 75 and alone in second place.
Leo Wessel took third place at 79.
